Mercedes-Benz US-Sprinter MY23-25
OBD protection prePVE and OBD certification documents
Context and Challenge
.
Implementation of the PrePVE (dress rehearsal) in preparation for the OBD certification for the market launch of a new generation of OM654 engines in the USA for the model years 2023, 2024 & 2025.
.
Missing descriptions of the error initiation methods of new diagnoses and diagnostic strategies, especially for monitors that have alternative options for error entry (OR cases).
.
Transfer of HIL testing to the entire vehicle, esp. for secondaries (ECUs BC, ESP, ORC, SCCM).

Solution
.
Review of the diagnostic & PVE description using software documentation and creation of a reliable and reliable description of the fault initiation method, which is then confirmed in the vehicle.
.
Analysis of the vehicle network to define a suitable location for the fault initiation so that OBD requirements are correctly implemented.
.
Creation of Flexray & LIN configurations with Vector CANoe for error manipulation, esp. for secondaries that do not have an OBD error memory and communicate via CAN.
Added Value
.
Avoid deficiencies during certification by troubleshooting upfront.
.
Provision of certification documents for newly launched engine variants in the USA.
.
Increased user-friendliness through Flexray & LIN configurations and reliability of error manipulation for OBD validation and thus avoidance of cost- and resource-intensive recursions.
